It has been documented many times that to really understand what its like for others, we must first walk in their shoes. That’s impossible, we can listen with our hearts and ears, see with our eyes and be empathetic, caring in heart and spirit.

The word ‘Empathy’ is derived from the Greek work ‘Empatheia’, meaning ‘Into’ and

‘Pathos ‘meaning ‘Feeling’. Empathy meant being able to relate to the experience of another person, by mirroring it in one’s mind.

Most moral codes regard empathy as a fundamental concept. It is written into the golden rule shared by all religions and systems of ethical thought: you should treat others as you would like others to treat you.

There is one other component of empathy. I’ve not yet said anything about imagination. This is important because we may need to empathise with people whom we have no direct contact. The historian Benedict Anderson, in his work on nationalism, famously referred to the modern nation-state as an imagined community. Referencing Edward Burke as he references the passing of an age of chivalry. The new condition of democracy would dissolve all the pleasing and benevolent illusions of the ancient regime.

Personal empowerment means taking control of your own life, sadly I say that the powers that be are hastily seeking control of populations worldwide, however we must never ever give up self empowerment, our self identity as unique individual persons that walk in our own individual shoes, as this totalitarian world of a one world corporate governance, a one script for all is hastily using AI digitalization, AI Digital Capital Surveillance to redesign, reshape thoughts, behaviours to a post modernized immoral so called ‘Enlightenment’ – WAKE UP NEW ZEALAND.
