Bloomberg News Reports 17th December 2020 ‘Ardern announces New Zealand’s largest ever immunization program’. (Reporter Matthew Brocket New Zealand aims to begin vaccinating its entire population against Covid-19 in the second half of next year in its largest-ever immunization program, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said. The nation’s currency rose.

The government has secured two additional vaccines from pharmaceutical companies AstraZeneca Plc and Novavax Inc, and will have enough for all five million New Zealanders, Ardern said Thursday in Wellington. If proven to be safe and effective, immunization will begin with border workers and essential staff in the second quarter of 2021 followed by the general population in the second half, she said. The vaccines will be free to the public.
The New Zealand dollar rose about a quarter of a U.S. cent after Ardern’s announcement and bought 71.03 cents at 9:55 a.m. in Wellington.

Human rights are the basic rights and freedoms we’re all entitled to, no matter what our age, ethnicity, culture, religion or sex.

Internationally, human rights are guaranteed through treaties, customary international law and other sources of international law.

New Zealand is party to 7 core international human rights treaties of the United Nations. By signing up to these instruments, New Zealand has assumed obligations under international law to respect, protect and fulfil the human rights of everyone in New Zealand. This means that the State must refrain from actions that interfere with or curtail the enjoyment of human rights, protect individuals and groups against human rights abuses and take positive action to facilitate the enjoyment of basic human rights.

The Bill of Rights Act 1990 is one of the most important piece of legislation in New Zealand for the promotion and protection of human rights. It sets out to affirm, protect and promote human rights and fundamental freedoms in New Zealand. It also affirms New Zealand’s obligations under the International Convention on Civil and Political Rights.

A holocaust survivor is suing the German pharmaceutical giant Bayer AG for the company’s alleged involvement in experiments conducted on Jews at Auschwitz by Dr Josef Mengele. Ms Eva Mozes Kor was, with her sister, one of hundreds of sets of twins used by Mengele for grotesque medical experiments at the death camp.

Twenty-three elderly Norwegian people died after receiving Pfizer vaccines. Thirteen of them have been assessed and common side effects may have contributed to severe reactions in them, according to the Norwegian Medicines Agency.

Norway is a small Northern European country and only about 25,000 people have been vaccinated with Pfizer vaccines. Twenty-three deaths are a large number. But surprisingly, mainstream English-language media did not report the incident immediately, as if they had already reached a consensus. Major US and UK media were obviously downplaying their deaths.
