UN Human Rights Council members,  human rights abuses or religious persecution include China, Cuba, Sudan, Eritrea, Nigeria, and Pakistan, Qatar.                 47 Representatives of countries are voted onto the UN Human Rights Council by a secret voting system. Some member states use their positions to block scrutiny of their own and allied human rights abuses, thereby granting impunity for serious violations. The UN Human Rights Council obsessively condemns Israel with more resolutions against Israel than the whole worlds countries put together. Votes Trading in a Secret Voting Sustem to gain membership onto the Security Council is much to blame.

As of 2024, the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) has adopted 108 resolutions against. Critics point out that Israel is often condemned in more resolutions than all other countries combined in a given year, despite severe human rights situations globally. Israel is the only country whose human rights record is discussed under a permanent, standalone item (Agenda Item 7) at every session of the Council, while other nations’ records are addressed in general debates.

The UN human rights expert on Palestine is mandated only to investigate “Israel’s violations,” not those by Palestinian authorities or Hamas, leading to consistent one-sided reports that often ignore human rights abuses by Palestinian actors.  Human rights advocates argue that oppressive regimes like China, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, and North Korea receive minimal or no criticism from the Council, highlighting a selective application of human rights principles.

When universal standards are applied so selectively, they cease to become standards at all. And by disproportionately focusing on Israel to such an extreme degree, the UN neglects the plight of millions of human rights victims around the world. Human Rights Council resolutions on a perpetrator of atrocities such as Sudan—at the time when its now-former president, Omar al-Bashir, was wanted for genocide by the International Criminal Court—routinely included language praising and commending Khartoum, and urging international aid funds for its government.
